Orkney Beremeal Flour
Orkney Beremeal Flour
Beremeal is a stoneground flour milled from bere – ancient form of barley grown and milled in Orkney since neolithic times. Packed with gut-friendly fibre and naturally rich in iron, folate, and magnesium – a quiet hero your health will thank you for. 100% natural and minimally processed, beremeal has a distinctive warm, nutty flavour and a slightly coarser texture than modern wheat flour. It’s perfect for baking bannocks, breads, scones and biscuits, and adds real depth and nourishment to everyday baking.
Just use a little less of your usual flour, and a bit of beremeal instead (up to a third), or throw a handful of bere berries into your soup or stew. It adds wholesome goodness and a warm, nutty depth to your food – real flavour, not just filler.
Best for:
- Lighter bakes where you want flavour without added texture
- Sponges, pastries, biscuits, oatcakes, breads and scones.
- Delicious coating for fish, chicken, and game.
- Blend with wheat flour to add depth.
